About the Author

  Fiona Travis, Ph.D.

Fiona H. Travis received her B.A. from Muskingum College and her master’s and doctorate degrees from The Ohio State University. Her primary work is that of a psychologist whose private practice of 25 years emphasizes the unique stresses of the legal profession. As a result, she has helped hundreds of lawyers and their families build better relationships. Dr. Travis is a popular speaker to the legal community having presented to local and state bar associations, the Judicial College of The Ohio Supreme Court and to support staffs of law firms and the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association. She is the author of several articles on the interaction of the body and the mind and presented her work to her colleagues of the American Psychological Association at conferences in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Dr. Travis is an Adjunct Professor on the Graduate Faculty of The Ohio State University and is a member of the medical staff of Mount Carmel Medical Center. 

Dr. Travis has a lifetime of experience living with a lawyer. Her husband, Judge Alan Travis, is an Ohio Common Pleas Court judge. During 38 years of marriage, Dr. Travis has lived with a law student, private practitioner, Assistant Ohio Attorney General, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney who argued twice before the United States Supreme Court, and Bar Examiner for the State of Ohio. Currently, Judge Travis presides over the Common Pleas Court in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Travis and her husband have two married sons and a grandson.
